Dhofar University

Overview Of Human Resource

Welcome to Dhofar University Human Resources (HR) services department  where our goal is to provide responsive service to the people who make the University's outstanding achievements possible. As of 2013, there are about 280  people who contribute to the success of DU. We work with faculty, staff, and student employees to ensure supportive, innovative human resource knowledge and services that sustain these shared values and excellence DU strives for. The HR department implements personnel policies and procedures and coordinates with:

  • Academic departments on issues of recruitment, compensation and benefits
  • Administrative departments on issues of recruitment, staff development and training, performance appraisal, and compensation and benefits.

HR planning for academic staffing begins at the departmental level and ends with the Vice Chancellor. As for senior academic administrators positions, the University Council makes recommendations to the Board of Trustees. For non-academic staffing, the HR department coordinates with all DU units in planning and is in charge of implementation.

DU bylaws have specified conditions for recruitment, selection, and appointment of academic and non-academic employees, remuneration and benefits, types of leaves, work conditions, promotion, dismissal, and renewal of contracts. To reach education excellence and enhance quality of services, DU strives to recruit qualified and diversified academic and non-academic staff from Oman and elsewhere whose credentials satisfy DU criteria and those of Omani authorities.
