Dhofar University Students Engage in Cultural Enrichment Through Lecture at Al Baleed Archaeological Park
Dhofar, 29 February
Students from the Department of Education at the College of Arts and Applied Sciences of Dhofar University recently had the opportunity to attend a lecture organized by the Museum of the Frankincense Land at Al Baleed Archaeological Park. The event, held on Wednesday, 21st February, aimed to deepen students’ understanding of their cultural and historical heritage.
The lecture, presented by Dr. Silvia Lischi from the University of Pisa, focused on the “First Definition of the Dhofar Coastal Culture” and shared insights into the results of recent archaeological campaigns in Khor Rori. Dr. Lischi’s expertise provided students with a unique perspective on the rich history and cultural significance of the Dhofar region.
The Department of Education’s initiative to expose students to their cultural and historical roots aligns with its broader goal of preparing pre-service teachers with the knowledge and skills necessary for culturally relevant teaching practices. The event was a testament to the university’s commitment to providing a holistic education that goes beyond textbooks, allowing students to connect with their heritage on a deeper level.
