Preparing well-trained graduates for the AI-powered labour market

The Career Services and Alumni Center hosted Dr. Sobhy Ahmed Soliman, Chair of the Education Department, College of Arts and Applied Sciences, Dhofar University as a presenter in a workshop entitled ” Today’s skills, tomorrow’s opportunities: Preparing well-trained graduates for the AI-powered labour market” to empower graduates to face the challenges of the changing labour market due to modern technologies, especially artificial intelligence.

This workshop aims to equip participants with a variety of essential skills for success in today’s sophisticated and dynamic labour market, by training them in effective applications of artificial intelligence tools.

The workshop contained several interactive training sessions on various topics, including:

  • Significance of having job search skills in the digital era, with particular focus on the importance of developing job search skills in the digital era and how to make use of the affordances of available digital resources.
  • An overview of artificial intelligence and its impact on the labour market, where a comprehensive view of the concept of artificial intelligence and how it changes the nature of jobs and employment was highlighted.
  • Presentation of practical applications for the use of AI tools, by offering applied sessions that enable participants to use AI in creating resumes, writing application letters, communicating with employers, writing professional emails, exploring e-recruitment platforms, and simulating job interviews.
