Dhofar University Concludes a Dynamic Summer of Educational and Training Activities
Dhofar University has successfully concluded its summer 2024 educational and training programs, which included a series of activities targeting school students, community members, and employees from both government and private sectors. These programs were overseen by the Community Service and Continuing Education Center, in collaboration with various university units, including colleges, centers, and departments, all of which played a significant role in the success of these initiatives, reflecting the university’s mission and commitment to community service. Among the summer programs, the university organized the “Dhofar University Summer Academy” from July 7 to July 25, 2024, and the “Academic Support Program” from August 4 to August 22, 2024, which focused on enhancing the skills of twelfth-grade students in Arabic, English, Advanced Mathematics, and Physics. Regarding training programs, the university targeted employees from various government administrative units, including the Office of the Governor of Dhofar, Ministry of Housing and Urban Planning, Royal Oman Police, Central Bank of Oman, Royal Opera House Muscat, Office of the Governor of North Al Batinah, State Council, Civil Aviation Authority, Military Technological College, Ministry of Energy and Minerals, Salalah Free Zone, and Dhofar University. In this context, the “Train the Trainer” program was conducted from August 4 to August 8, 2024, led by Mr. Hassan Al Sheizawi from the Oman Academy for Training. Additionally, the “Methodology and Fundamentals of Risk Management” program was held in collaboration with the Community Service and Continuing Education Centers of Sultan Qaboos University and Dhofar University from August 11 to August 15, 2024, under the supervision of Dr. Aseela Al Harthy, Head of the Strategic and Academic Studies Department at Sultan Qaboos University. Furthermore, the university, in collaboration with Sultan Qaboos University, offered the “Artificial Intelligence for Employee Empowerment” program from August 18 to August 22, 2024, which aimed to equip employees from various administrative units with AI skills. This program was led by Dr. Sobhi Suleiman, Head of the Education Department at the College of Arts and Applied Sciences. As part of its community outreach, Dhofar University organized an Excel training program from August 26 to August 28, 2024, targeting 100 community members. This program was conducted by Ms. Shahrzad Al Marhoon, Lecturer in the Department of Management Information Systems at the College of Commerce and Business administration; Mr. Naef Al Muati, Lecturer in the Information Technology Unit at the Preparatory Studies Center; and Ms. Shamma Al Harizi, Lecturer in the Information Technology Unit at the Preparatory Studies Center. Additionally, a public lecture titled “Personal Financial Portfolio Management” was held on August 27, 2024, presented by Dr. Moawiya Hussein, Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics at the College of Commerce and Administrative Sciences, where participants were introduced to key financial principles for effective personal resource management. These programs highlight Dhofar University’s commitment to enhancing its leadership role in community service and developing the skills of its members, contributing to capacity building and achieving sustainable development in the Sultanate of Oman.
