Chemical Engineering Student from Dhofar University Wins Global Competition

As part of the 2024 IAESTE (International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience) program, Musallam bin Hamed bin Mahad Tabook, a chemical engineering student from the College of Engineering at Dhofar University, achieved an outstanding accomplishment by securing first place among 80 participants from Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India. His research was recognized as the best scientific paper in the Chemistry Department. Musallam’s research focuses on developing fluorescent dyes and their diverse applications in critical fields such as sensors, anti-counterfeiting, and latent fingerprint detection. He has created an innovative material that accelerates the process of detecting fingerprints on various surfaces. This breakthrough will be published in the prestigious Scopus-indexed journal, further highlighting Dhofar University’s commitment to advancing scientific research and supporting students in exploring new academic and professional horizons.
