The Center for Student Counseling (CSC) holds a training program for students on Planning for Excellence and Success
Within the framework of the Center for Student Counseling’s activities, events, and programs for the fall semester of 2024/2025, the center organized a training program for university students on Tuesday and Thursday, October 29 and 31, 2024, under the title (Planning for Excellence and Success), implemented by the counseling specialist, Ms. Fatima bint Ahmed Al-Gharibi; where the first day of the program was devoted to the topic of success, which she began with success in the Holy Quran, and then explained the difference between success and excellence, through which she showed that success is achieving the specified standards, while excellence is exceeding these standards, and she also involved the students in the dialogue about the importance of success and its types, and then touched on the topic of self-discovery, which is the cornerstone of the individual’s success process, in addition to the most important methods that help the student discover themselves, and she also explained to the students the strategies and steps of planning for success, in which she focused on providing students with practical procedures for this, and an activity accompanying this topic was distributed.
The second day was devoted to the topic of excellence skills, in which Ms. Fatima Al-Gharibi presented several axes represented in the concept of excellence skills that distinguish the individual from others, in addition to introducing them to the most important excellence skills in our current era, which are critical and creative thinking skills (thinking outside the box), soft skills, adaptive skills, emotional intelligence, and digital technology skills. These skills were concluded by exchanging discussions and students’ opinions; where these skills were explained separately, their importance, ways to develop them, and giving realistic examples of them. A practical activity was also implemented to apply creative thinking skills, in which the students showed wonderful response and distinctive ideas about designing an innovative smart pen that keeps pace with developments and human needs. Ms. Fatima concluded the training program with the Pareto principle and its famous rule (20/80), pointing out the importance of making the most of it to develop skills, success, and excellence in all fields, noting that knowledge determines the destination and effort takes you there. At the end of the program, the honorable Prof. Dr. Nasser Sayed Abdel Rashid handed out certificates of participation to the students attending the training program.
