College of Engineering Welcomes Salalah Free Zone and Russian Delegation for Future Partnerships

On October 3, 2024, Dhofar University’s College of Engineering hosted a delegation from the Salalah Free Zone and a Russian steel company planning to invest in a new steel manufacturing facility in Salalah. The meeting brought together key representatives from the College, led by Assistant Dean Dr. Manaa Brahomi, and included faculty members from various academic departments, along with a representative from the Industry and Community Engagement Committee. Dr. Brahomi provided a comprehensive overview of the College’s programs, state-of-the-art facilities, and the achievements of its graduates. The Russian company expressed strong interest in training and employing engineers from diverse disciplines, emphasizing their commitment to recruiting skilled local talent. During their visit, the delegation toured the College’s laboratories, gaining insights into the hands-on training and technical skills students acquire throughout their studies. The meeting featured an engaging exchange of ideas on ways to support a future partnership, focusing on knowledge transfer and advanced technological collaboration. This partnership aims to strengthen the educational capabilities of Dhofar University’s College of Engineering, expand training and employment opportunities for students, and support graduates in their professional journeys. The collaboration aligns with Oman Vision 2040 and Dhofar University’s mission to nurture a promising generation of engineers equipped to meet the demands of the evolving job market and contribute to the region’s economic growth.
