Dhofar University and Salalah Port Conclude 7th School Math Competition
Dhofar University, represented by the Department of Mathematics and Sciences at the College of Arts and Applied Sciences, celebrated end of the seventh Mathematics Competition for Post-Basic Education schools in Dhofar Governorate, under the patronage of Dr. Mayzon Bint Bakhit Al Shahri, Director-General of the Directorate General of Education in Dhofar Governorate.
Sponsored by Salalah Port, the event indicated the University’s commitment and its community partners to support education and student talents. Dr. Mayzon commended the students’ performance and expressed appreciation of the efforts made by the University and schools in motivating students to be creative and show outstanding performance in Mathematics.
On the other hand, Dr. Khalid Almashikhi, Dean of the College of Arts and Applied Sciences at Dhofar University, reiterated the importance of this competition and its role in developing students’ skills, adding: “Through this competition, we seek to promote critical thinking and analytical skills of students and encourage them to adopt innovative scientific methods in solving problems. Mathematics is not just numbers; It is an essential tool for understanding and developing the world”. The closing ceremony was attended by academics, educators and participating schools’ representatives. During the event, awards were given to the winning teams, and the University offered Dr. Mayzon a token of appreciation. Salalah Port was applauded as a supportive partner in initiatives which contribute to preparing creative and skillful future generation.
The event concluded by appreciating the significant role played by the Port of Salalah as a supportive partner for such initiatives that contribute to building a creative generation qualified for the future.
