A field visit from the Department of Family Social Development in Dhofar Governorate to the Student Counseling Center at the university
Within the joint cooperation between Dhofar University and government institutions in the governorate, The Student Counseling Center at the university received a delegation comprising a group of guidance and counseling specialists and psychologists from the department of Family Development of the General Directorate of Social Development in Dhofar Governorate. The visit included recognizing the Student Counseling Center, where Prof. Dr. Nasser Said Abdelrasheed, Director of the Center, welcomed the specialists and presented a short presentation about the aims of the Center, the services it provides, ways to benefit from them, and the mechanisms of communication with the Center. Ways and mechanisms of cooperation between the Center and the Department of Family Development were discussed, and how the specialists working in the General Directorate of Social Development in Dhofar could benefit from the expertise and capabilities available in the Center in the future. It was agreed to hold a training programms to develop the skills of psychologists in the directorate on designing group counseling programs, case studies, dealing with families, and developing the skills of the family counselor in dealing with different cases.
The counseling specialists and the psychologists expressed their thanks for the warm welcome of the center’s staff and for the knowledge and practical benefit they gained from this visit, expressing their wish for increased joint cooperation between the center and the Department of Family Development in the near future.
