A Strategic Partnership Between Alexandria University and the College of Engineering at Dhofar University: Building Information Modeling (BIM) Technology for a Sustainable Future
In August 2024, Alexandria University’s Faculty of Engineering in Egypt hosted a transformative workshop on sustainable design using Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. Spearheaded by Dr. Lamiaa Mostafa from Dhofar University in Oman and supported by Dr. Mohamed Assem, Acting Head of Alexandria University’s Architectural Engineering Department, the workshop attracted significant interest from academics and professionals focused on sustainable architecture. Titled “Sustainability on BIM using Autodesk Revit and Insight 360,” the workshop offered an immersive blend of theoretical instruction and hands-on training. Participants explored how BIM technology can facilitate eco-friendly and cost-effective design, aligning with sustainable architectural trends. The event was tailored for faculty, researchers, and architecture students, equipping them with advanced BIM skills for sustainable applications and emphasizing recent technological updates that support environmentally responsible building. This workshop is part of a broader initiative to promote knowledge sharing and skill development between Dhofar and Alexandria Universities. This collaborative effort marks a commitment to advancing architectural sustainability, supporting the aspirations of future architects, and tackling today’s environmental challenges through innovative, cross-institutional collaboration. The partnership exemplifies a shared vision to incorporate advanced technologies for a sustainable architectural future.
