Duties:

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Dhofar University, Sultanate of Oman, invites applications for faculty position for the rank of Assistant Professor (starting Spring 2026 (February). in the field of computer/software engineering with preference given to applicants with expertise in teaching software development, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, cloud computing, embedded systems, or related areas.

Duties include teaching undergraduate courses, supervising students’ projects and undertaking active research roles in the field of expertise. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree and have relevant experience, and proven ability for excellence in teaching and communication skills. The medium of delivery is English.

Requirements:

A Ph.D in Computer Engineering or related field.
In-depth subject knowledge/expertise in the field of Computer/Software engineering.
Experience (minimum of three years) of teaching as well as conducting and designing laboratories in introductory and advanced courses of the designated areas.
Experience in teaching and research in the field of AI is highly desirable.
Ability to develop and deliver innovative and effective teaching and learning materials.
High level of analytical and problem-solving capability, planning and organizational skills, demonstrated team working skills with high level of cooperation with other people.
Demonstrable ability to communicate complex oral and written information clearly in English.
Ability to contribute to research in the designated areas and related topics, develop research proposals, seek research funds, and demonstrate high level of team-work skills and cooperation with others.
Good publications record in leading peer-reviewed journals

Applications are invited for the post of Research Assistant (RA) at the Department of Mechanical & Mechatronics Engineering, College of Engineering, Dhofar University, Salalah, Oman to work on an Industrial project, entitled “Using Recycled Asphalt Concrete (RAC) for sustainable pavement in Dhofar Governorate” under the supervision of Dr. Paul C. Okonkwo.

Duration of the Project: 1 Year

Qualifications and Remunerations:

Note: The post is purely temporary in nature.

Requirements:

Understanding of asphalt concrete composition, behavior, and recycling methods
Familiarity with hot and cold mix recycling techniques
Proficiency in conducting standard asphalt and aggregate tests (e.g., Marshall Stability, Indirect Tensile Strength, Bitumen content)
Familiarity with sample preparation, mix design, and mechanical testing.
Origin Software, MS Excel, and statistical tools for data processing.
Literature review using academic databases (ScienceDirect, Scopus, etc.)
Data analysis and interpretation.
Report writing and documentation
Working in Dhofar’s climate and road network condition

Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive literature reviews on Recycled Asphalt Concrete (RAC) technologies and Sustainability practices in pavement engineering
Collect primary and secondary Pavement samples data
Analyze mechanical, thermal, and environmental performance indicators of RAC mixes
Prepare recycled asphalt mix designs based on project criteria
Conduct laboratory testing, including Marshall Stability and Flow, Indirect Tensile Strength, Bitumen content analysis, and Moisture susceptibility tests.
Record, tabulate, and interpret results
Draft technical reports, progress updates, and contribute to the final project report
Document work and prepare research papers for publication.
