Located in the beautiful city of Salalah, Sultanate of Oman, you can embark on an innovative experience in higher education with Dhofar University’s College of Commerce and Business Administration (CCBA). Position Title: Lecturer/ ASSISTANT PROFESSOR
Area: Finance/ Accounting/Economic
Salary and rank: Salary and rank are commensurate with education and experience.
Appointment type: Academic, annual basis (renewable)
Starting Date: The preferred start date for successful candidates to join is 1st September 2026

Responsibilities and Expectations

The Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor will be part of the Academic department with the following responsibilities.

  • Teaching courses at undergraduate and graduate level
  • Undertake research work and publish at least one research papers in Scopus indexed journal
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and research productivity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver new learning methods with the ability to foster a student-centered learning environment
  • Willingness to contribute to departmental and College service such as serving on committees, any other services related to the college, as well as participating in student advising.
  • Proficiency in relevant technologies and passion for educational innovation.

The Lecturer will be part of the Academic department with the following responsibilities.

  • Teaching courses at undergraduate level
  • Undertake research work and publish at least one research papers in Scopus indexed journal
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and research productivity
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to develop and deliver new learning methods with the ability to foster a student-centered learning environment
  • Willingness to contribute to departmental and College service such as serving on committees, any other services related to the college, as well as participating in student advising.
  • Proficiency in relevant technologies and passion for educational innovation.

Eligibility Conditions:

For Lecturer:
1. Must be Omani National.
2. Minimum THREE of teaching experience in higher education institutions, post obtaining the master’s degree.
3. The candidate’s academic qualification should not be lower than the category of students he or she will be required to teach.
4. Should be less than 40 years in age as at the date of appointment
5. If the candidate has no teaching experience, the following are required:
– The candidate preferably holds bachelor degree too is in the same field of study specialization as that of the advertised job.
– Minimum GPA of 2.75 on a 4-point scale; Both master and bachelor’s degrees should be full time study programs from universities recognized by MOE, and they should have a valid minimum IElTS(academic) score of 6.0.
For Assistant Professor:
1- Must be Omani National.
2- The candidate should have a full-time PhD from a university recognized by MOE (preferably those with good contributions to scientific research and published research in the same field of specialization), in the same field of study specialization as that of the advertised job. A master degree cumulative Grade Point Average should not be less than 3.20 on a 4-pornt scale.
3- Candidates should have at least TWO years of higher education teaching experience in the same field of study specialization in recognized institutions of higher education post obtaining the PhD degree, (preferably those with good contributions to scientific research and-published research in the same held of specialization).
4- Candidates should have at least two (2) papers in recognized peer reviewed journals. These papers should not have been taken from the candidate’s Master thesis. The published paper(s) will not be considered if it is in the DU list of hijacked journals, blacklisted journals, and predatory publishers as determined by the University Research Committee for the current academic year.
5- Should be less than 45 years old as at the date of appointment.
6- If the candidate has no teaching experience, the following are required:
– The candidate’s bachelor and master degrees are in the same field of study specialization as that of the advertised job with a minimum GPA of 2.5 in bachelors and 3.2 in master on a 4 Point scale;
– The candidate has a valid minimum IElTS (academic) score of 6.0; o the institution shall provide the Ministry with a report assessing the performance of the candidate after the completion of the one academic year (two full semesters) of appointment so as to make the appropriate decision on the appointment of the candidate as a faculty member.

2- Have spent a minimum of five academic years in the rank of Assistant Professor post PhD completion and at least one year in the rank of Associate Professor.
3- Have proven competence in teaching the subjects taught and ability to transmit understanding of that knowledge to students.
4- An applicant’s involvement in academic administration and University and Community Service is an added advantage.
5- Carry out research that has led to peer-reviewed publications and scholarly or professional activity, which are judged to increase knowledge and understanding and improve the scholarly and professional competence of the faculty member.

The candidate should fully satisfy the following minimum eligibility conditions:
– After the last promotion, the applicant should have at least six (6) referred journal publications, among which one (1) should be as single (sole) author or at least two (2) publications as the first author.
– Not less than three (3) publications out of six (6) should be indexed by Scopus and/ or Web of Science.
– Among the indexed papers, at least one (1) paper should be indexed by Web of Science with SSCI or SCIE or AHCI Impact Factor from the Clarivate Analytics Database, where the applicant is the first author and the scope of the paper is within his/her specific major.
– Must have secured or participated in at least one internal or external funded research project in the last five years.
– No published paper(s) will be considered if it is in the DU list of hijacked journals, blacklisted journals, and predatory publishers as determined by the University Research Committee for the current academic year.
– At least 50% of the applicant’s publications should be in the area of his/her major/field of specialization.

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Assist with population-based data collection activities
  • Administer digitized questionnaires using tablets or smartphones.
  • Conduct anthropometric measurements (weight, height, waist circumference)
  • Assist with non?invasive techniques under supervision
  • Maintain accurate and confidential data recordings.
  • Ensure professional conduct when working with adolescents.
  • Maintain ethical research standards and data?protection guidelines.
