Duties:

The Department of Chemical Engineering (CHE), Dhofar University, Sultanate of Oman, invites only Omani applicants for faculty position for the rank of Assistant Professor in the field of Chemical and Process Engineering or related specializations.

Duties include teaching undergraduate courses, supervising students’ projects and undertaking active research roles in the field of expertise. Applicants must hold a Ph.D. degree and have relevant experience, and proven ability for excellence in teaching, and communication skills. The medium of delivery is English.

Requirements:

An PhD in Chemical Engineering or related specializations.
Ability to develop and deliver innovative and effective teaching and learning materials.
High level of analytical and problem-solving capability, planning and organizational skills, demonstrated team working skills with high level of cooperation with other people.
Demonstrable ability to communicate complex oral and written information clearly in English.
Ability to contribute to research in the designated areas and related topics, develop research proposals, seek research funds, and demonstrate high level of team-work skills and cooperation with others.
Good publications record in leading peer-reviewed journals.

Submit regular research funding proposals to ministries, industries, and other national and international funding bodies.
Develop infrastructure for conducting research tasks at Dhofar University.
Train young researchers, research assistants, and final-year project students in various research tasks.
Publish research papers and work on filing patents and product development.
Conducting workshops/seminars for scientific audiences in Dhofar University and outside Dhofar University.
Teaching courses at undergraduate and graduate level.

Eligibility Conditions for Assistant Research Professor: The candidate should:

Have full time PhD, from a university recognized by Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, Oman (MOHERI) (preferably those with good contributions to scientific research and published research in the same field of specialization), in the same field of study specialization as that of the advertised job.
Have two years of post-PhD experience in teaching of the subjects in area of specialization and at least one year in the rank of Assistant Professor.
Carry out research that has led to peer-reviewed publications and scholarly or professional activity, which are judged to increase knowledge and understanding and improve the scholarly and professional competence of the faculty member.
Have at least twenty (20) refereed journal publications in Scopus or web of science journal with at least ten (10) such publications should be in SSCI or SCIE Impact Factor from the Clarivate Analytics Database.
At least TWO such publication should be single author and additionally FIVE publications should be as first author or corresponding author.
The Scopus Citation should not be less than 300 or Scopus H- index of 8
Evidence of engagement in undertaking Funded research project(s) as either PI or Co PI in their previous employment will be preferred.
Preferred age group shall be 25 to 40 years.
