Colleg of Engineering Students Engage in GPCA Youth Forum 2024
Four students from the Department of Chemical Engineering at the College of Engineering participated in the Gulf Petrochemical and Chemical Association (GPCA) Youth Forum, held from December 2–5, 2024, at the Oman Convention & Exhibition Center in Muscat. The event, sponsored by industry leaders such as SABIC and OQ, served as a platform for students, young professionals, and industry leaders to exchange insights on key topics in the petrochemical and chemical industries, including industrial processes, material applications, and the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) in optimizing production.
The forum featured distinguished speakers, including former Omani Minister of Energy Dr. Mohamed Hamed Al-Rumhy and GPCA Secretary-General Dr. Abdulwahab Al-Sadoun. Students also had the opportunity to engage with professionals, researchers, and renowned figures from the chemical engineering industry. Beyond technical discussions, participants received career development training on CV writing, job interview preparation, and professional presentation skills.
The event also included networking sessions, such as evening dinners, where students connected with industry experts and explored future career opportunities. This experience reinforced the College of Engineering’s commitment to industry exposure and skill development, aligning with Oman Vision 2040’s focus on innovation and professional growth in the engineering sector.
