College of Engineering – BIM Seminar: Towards the Future of Construction and Building
Under the patronage of Dr. Issam Al Bahdoor, Dean of the College of Engineering, and in the presence of a distinguished group of engineers from both the public and private sectors, the College of Engineering at Dhofar University organized a seminar entitled “Building Information Modeling: From Zero to Construction” on May 1st, 2024. The seminar was delivered by Arch. Mansour Kashta, an architect and expert in Building Information Modeling (BIM) at Foster + Partners, a globally renowned company in this field. The seminar addressed a variety of topics, including the introduction of BIM technology, its benefits, importance, and methods of application and utilization in projects in the Sultanate of Oman. It also featured presentations of a variety of projects by students from the Department of Architecture Engineering, as well as a detailed presentation of Sara Abdulmuniem Talha’s project, which used advanced BIM technology. The event sponsor honored the attendees and participants at the seminar’s conclusion. This event aligns with the goals of the College of Engineering, which aims to prepare engineers to meet the demands of the job market and foster entrepreneurship in this field that is witnessing increasing global demand. The seminar was organized by lecturer Lamiaa Mostafa from the Department of Architecture Engineering at the College.
