College of Engineering Reinforces Academic Advising as a Core Pillar to Enhance Student Experience

On October 24, 2024, Dhofar University’s College of Engineering held an interactive workshop for faculty titled “Academic Advising in the College of Engineering.” Led by Dr. Abdurrahman Al-Qawasmi, Quality Assurance Committee Coordinator, the workshop emphasized the pivotal role of academic advising in enhancing the student experience. Dr. Al-Qawasmi discussed how effective advising empowers students to understand their rights and responsibilities, fostering informed decision-making aligned with their career goals. He also stressed the importance of aligning advising practices with the standards of the Oman Academic Accreditation Authority and Dhofar University policies to ensure a quality educational experience. The workshop provided faculty with practical insights into advising tools and resources, including e-advising platforms for monitoring student progress and generating reports. A collaborative segment allowed participants to engage in open discussion, share best practices, and explore ways to enhance the advising process.
