College of Engineering Students Win Fourth National Research Competition for Energy Innovation

On February 20, 2025, the fourth edition of the National Research Competition was held as part of the 11th Annual Research Day at Dhofar University, celebrating excellence and innovation in scientific research.

Student Moamin bin Said Al-Amri and student Rahma bint Ahmed Al-Naamania from the College of Engineering, under the supervision of Dr. Gowhar Ahmed Naikoo from the College of Arts and Applied Sciences, secured first place in the Applied Sciences category. Their research paper presented a groundbreaking discovery of a substance extracted from frankincense that offers a promising solution to energy challenges in Oman.

The innovative research received high praise from the judging panel for its potential to enhance sustainability and support national energy efforts. This achievement highlights the creativity of Omani youth and their capability to provide innovative solutions to contemporary challenges.
