“Times Higher Education” (THE) has ranked Dhofar University in the band 801-1000 among 2152 universities spread over 125 countries across the world and is the number one university in the TIMES “World University Impact Ranking” among Higher Education Institutions in the Sultanate of Oman, announced in Bangkok, Thailand on 12th of June 2024. Impact Ranking assesses universities across the world against the “United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals” (SDGs). The SDGs were adopted by the United Nations in 2015 as a universal call to overcome global challenges such as protecting the planet, ending poverty, and ensuring that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. All 191 UN Member Countries, including Oman, have agreed to try to achieve these goals by the year 2030. The Sultanate of Oman’s path towards achieving the goals of sustainable development is stipulated in “Oman Vision 2040”. The achievement of Dhofar University speaks volume about its commitment towards the community and the nation and is a contribution towards achieving “Oman Vision 2040”. The University promises and is obligated to keep it up in future.
