Dhofar University Celebrates the International Day of Persons with Disabilities

Today, Dhofar University, represented by the Community Service and Continuing Education Center, celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. The celebration included many inspiring stories and highlighted the role of individuals with disabilities in activities aimed at raising awareness about their rights and enhancing their integration into various aspects of life. The event also shed light on the challenges faced by these individuals and the importance of providing support and assistance by creating an inclusive environment that meets their specific needs. In his opening speech, Mr. Omar bin Ali Al Shahri, Director of the Community Service and Continuing Education Center, praised the efforts of Dhofar University in supporting students with disabilities. He emphasised the presence of a dedicated unit to assist these students and the availability of a Computer Science program designed to cater to the needs of students with hearing impairments. The university continuously strives to promote an inclusive educational environment that is suitable for all students. After the ceremony, certificates of appreciation were distributed to the participants, and a plaque was presented to Mrs. Amal bint Ahmed bin Alawi Al Ibrahim, a member of the Municipal Council, in recognition of her support for disability issues. Participants expressed their gratitude for this initiative, which contributes to enhancing the role of persons with disabilities in society and changing prevailing perceptions about them.
