Dhofar University Engineering Student’s Research Achievement Highlights Sustainable Architecture at International Conference in Libya
A research paper by Dhofar University engineering student Rawan Anwar Al-Waer, titled “Sustainable Dwelling Design Principles in Libya: Strategies for Eco-Friendly Architecture,” was recently accepted at the Libyan International Conference for Applied Science and Engineering (LICASE 2). The conference, held on October 29-30, 2024, in Tripoli, serves as a global platform for researchers to exchange ideas and develop sustainable solutions in science and engineering. Rawan’s paper focuses on sustainable architectural design in Libya, proposing eco-friendly strategies for housing. It was highly praised by the conference’s panel of judges for its originality and research value, leading to her paper being accepted for presentation and scheduled for publication in a special issue of the International Journal of Science and Technology. In acknowledgment of her significant contribution, the conference fully covered her participation costs. Under the mentorship of Dr. Lamiaa Mostafa from Dhofar University’s Department of Architectural Engineering, Rawan’s achievement highlights the university’s commitment to encouraging student research and advancing sustainability in architecture. This accomplishment enhances Dhofar University’s international academic standing, showcasing its role in promoting sustainable engineering solutions that address global environmental challenges.
