Dhofar University Hosts First-Ever TEDx Event: “Youth-Led Movement in Sustainable Initiatives”
Dhofar University proudly hosted its first TEDxDhofarUniversity event on November 4, 2024, themed “Youth-Led Movement in Sustainable Initiatives.” The event was attended by Vice Chancellor Professor Amer Al Rawas, Deputy Vice Chancellor Dr. Syed Jamil, who delivered the welcoming note, along with Dr. Khalid Almashiki, Dean College of Arts and Applied Sciences, Directors, faculty members, and students.
The TEDxDhofarUniversity event highlighted the power of student-led initiatives in advancing sustainability and raised awareness on the vital role of youth in driving positive change. Organized by students enrolled in the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet Module EUCD 101, the event showcased the diverse voices of Dhofar University’s student body, including representatives from the College of Arts and Applied Sciences (CAAS), College of Commerce and Business Administration (CCBA), and College of Engineering (CE). The speakers spanned from first-year students to alumni, encompassing Omani, international, male, and female students, all united in their commitment to sustainability.
Each speaker shared insights on sustainable practices from ongoing projects and innovative ideas within their respective fields. The “Youth-Led Movement in Sustainable Initiatives” aims to empower young people to take the lead in promoting sustainability within their communities and beyond, highlighting Dhofar University’s commitment to fostering responsible and globally-minded citizens.
