Dhofar University New Intake Orientation Day

Dhofar University welcomed its new students by organizing an orientation programme for three days starting Sunday, September 8, 2024, under the auspices of Dr. Syed Jamil, Deputy Vice Chancellor, and the participation of representatives from the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation. Among the attendees were Miss Badriyah bint Khamis Al Yahmadiyah, and Miss Al Jalila bint Abdullah Al Kalbaniyah, Researchers of Internal Scholarships Students at the Department of Internal Scholarship, and Miss Amal bint Abdullah Al Saidiya, an employee at the Department of Postgraduate Studies and Scholarships.

The programme was inaugurated with the recital of Quranic verses, followed by a visual presentation on the University featuring its past, objectives, and plans, and a welcoming speech by Mr. Hassan Kashob, Director of Student Affairs who congratulated the new students on attending the University and provided some advice and guidance.

As a part of the programme, Miss Badriya bint Khamis Al Yahmadiyah acquainted the new students with the procedures for registering on the Ministry’s website, and the electronic services available to scholarship students. She also briefed the students about academic, legal, and financial issues related to scholarships allowing them to interact and direct questions to the Ministry’s staff.

The students also got an opportunity to learn about the services provided by the Center for Student Counseling and Female Student Hostel Services.

The second day of the programme witnessed a speech by Dr. Khalid Al Mashikhi, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Applied Sciences, who introduced the College’s programmes and departments and reiterated the importance of discipline and adherence to academic obligations, noting the special attention the College gives to students with disabilities. Dr. Moosa Bait Ali Suleiman, Director of the Center for Preparatory Studies, spoke about the study and academic regulations students must abide by.

On his part, Dr. Mohamed Al Shawabkeh, Head of the Department of General Law, College of Law, provided an overview of the College’s programmes and regulations. In addition, Mr. Omar Ba Hajjaj, Head of the Scholarships Department, made a visual presentation on scholarships and other services provided by the Ministry.

On the third day, Dr. Mawih Alani, Dean of the College of Commerce and Business Administration, welcomed the students and reminded them about academic excellence and adherence to the University’s regulations. In his concluding speech, Dr. Issam Al Bahadur, Dean of the College of Engineering congratulated the new students urging them to strive for academic excellence and success in their careers.
