Dhofar University’s College of Engineering Shines at International Conference in Italy, Supporting Oman’s Sustainability Efforts
In line with Dhofar University’s commitment to encouraging student engagement in research and fostering sustainable architectural practices in Oman, the College of Engineering has achieved a notable presence on the international stage. Engineering student Al Shamukh Al Mahsli’s research paper, titled “Urban Design Principles for Sustainable and Well-Being Compounds in the Sultanate of Oman,” was accepted for presentation at the International Conference on Urban Planning & Architectural Design for Sustainable Development, held at the University of Florence in Italy from October 22 to 24, 2024. This prestigious conference brought together global researchers to exchange ideas and innovations in urban planning and architecture, providing an essential platform for discussing sustainable solutions to contemporary challenges. The review panel praised Al Mahsli’s paper for its originality and academic contribution, leading to its inclusion in the conference sessions and future publication within a Scopus/Springer scientific series. Supervised by Dr. Lamiaa Mostafa, an esteemed lecturer in the Department of Architectural Engineering, the paper reflects Dhofar University’s dedication to academic excellence and innovation. This accomplishment underscores the university’s role in advancing sustainable engineering aligned with Oman’s Vision 2040 goals and strengthens its reputation within international scientific circles.
