DU Participates in UTAS Exhibition on World Mental Health Day

Represented by the Student Counselling Center (SCC), and to enhance partnerships with national universities and institutions, Dhofar University participated in the exhibition organized by the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) in Salalah under the title ‘awareness-raising campaign for a secure and happy life’. Mr Salem Akkak, Director of Students Affairs Department at DU, confirmed that this participation aimed to disseminate mental health behaviours and practices among students and the local community. Mr Akkak highlighted the need to prevent the abuse of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances and to receive post-recovery psychotherapeutic treatment. This requires exerting joint efforts on the individual level and community level. On the one hand, individuals need to develop their self-awareness and strategies to deal with stress and life pressures. On the other hand, education and raising awareness in the local community and among families about the importance of mental health play a pivotal role in providing the necessary psychological support to individuals who suffer from mental health issues and face relevant challenges.
