Finance Literacy Day- 2024
Students play a vital role and contribute to the future of Oman’s economy. Empowering youth in Oman is a national priority according to Oman Vision 2040. One of the ways to empower is to create awareness of financial products and educate the student community with avenues to save. The event “Finance Literacy Day 2024” is one step towards supporting this national priority. Finance Literacy Day is an initiative from the Department of Finance and Economics, College of Commerce and Business Administration to create awareness about financial products and inculcate the habit of saving among the youth/student community in Dhofar University. It was conducted in the College of Commerce and Business Administration, Dhofar University Hall 2 on 22 April 2024 Monday. The students & faculty of Dhofar University actively participated. The events conducted are National level Quiz competition in Oman ,a total of 10 teams participated all over Oman. The first prize was won by (Latifa Obeid Al Hinai & Dunia Saif Salem Al Omeiri)Team UTAS, Ibri, CCBA Dhofar University team (Bushra Khamis & Kamla Shanfari) won the second prize and the Third prize was won by UTAS, Salalah (Salim Alawi Al Dhahab & Abdullah Ishaq Al Balushi).The awareness session by Ms Eiman Al Amri, Executive Accountant, Central Bank of Oman followed by a Q&A session and talk by Mr Omar Al Sayabi, Assistant Business Relations, Oman Credit and Financial Information System (Malaa) on creating financial literacy for students and Global Money Exchange and Consumer Protection set kiosks to spread awareness among students . At the end, Maala, Global Money Exchange and Belant Bond conducted some activities and gave away gifts to students.
