Her Excellency Dr. Laila Al-Najjar witnesses Signing of Memorandum of Cooperation with the General Directorate for Social Development at Dhofar University

Her Excellency, Dr. Laila bint Ahmed Al Najjar, Minister of Social Development visited Dhofar University last Wednesday and was welcomed by faculty members, administrative staff, and students.

In his welcome speech, Professor Amer bin Ali Al Rawas, Dhofar University Vice Chancellor commended the Minister and her remarkable contribution to the social development in Oman. Professor Amer also reiterated the significance of bilateral cooperation in achieving societal and development aspirations.

In her address, Her Excellency Dr. Laila Al Najjar expressed her pleasure in visiting the University and acknowledged its efforts to promote scientific research and disseminate knowledge. She also noted the importance of coordination between government agencies and universities in the area of social development.

After the opening remarks, students were engaged in an interactive panel discussion with Her Excellency the Minister on social development issues and the importance of the youths’ role in achieving sustainable development. The visit also witnessed the ceremony of signing a memorandum of cooperation between Dhofar University and the General Directorate of Social Development in Dhofar Governorate. The signed memorandum of cooperation aims at promoting cooperation in the fields of scientific research and social development.

It is worth noting that, this meeting is an important step towards strengthening cooperation between the government and academic bodies and strengthening social development networks in the Sultanate of Oman.
