Interior Architecture Students Leave Their Mark on Dhofar University’s Culture Week
Students from the Interior Architecture program at the Department of Architectural Engineering actively participated in the planning, design, and exhibition activities for Dhofar University’s Culture Week. The students demonstrated great initiative and leadership by assessing the exhibition requirements, considered user interaction, visitor movement, and available resources. Their expertise helped the event organizers in planning and designing various activities throughout the celebratory event.
The students further undertook the design and construction of multiple installations on campus, one of which was called “The Knowledge Hub.” Located at the entrance of the College of Engineering, this pavilion took inspiration from Dhofar University’s role, facilitating the free flow of ideas and knowledge. The design of the installation incorporated algorithmic design techniques taught at prestigious universities across the globe. The pavilion’s cells were created using laser cutting technology available at Dhofar University’s workshop. The installation was assembled by the students and course leaders Dr. Yasser Arab and Ms. Maryam Saeed. The involvement of Interior Architecture students in Culture Week allowed them to apply design theories and fostered a sense of engagement and collaboration with students from other colleges.
