Orientation Workshop Guides Architecture Students Toward a Promising Academic Future

In line with Dhofar University’s commitment to preparing new students and providing essential guidance for a rewarding academic experience, the College of Engineering, led by Dr. Abbas Hassan, organized an orientation workshop for freshman students in Architecture and Interior Architecture. The workshop aimed to equip students with necessary insights into the college’s administrative structure and hierarchy, presenting them with detailed information about the roles of the college dean, vice dean, and heads of academic departments. During the session, the students were introduced to various academic departments within the college, including Architecture, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Communication Engineering, Chemical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering. The workshop highlighted available programs, such as bachelor’s and diploma degrees, alongside the academic requirements for each, including the credits required for graduation from each program. Dr. Hassan also provided a comprehensive overview of the facilities available to support students’ educational journey, including lecture halls, the library, and computer labs. He outlined the academic roadmap, explaining the required credits for both core and elective courses and detailing any prerequisite courses. Key academic policies, such as warnings due to low grades and consequences for cheating during exams, were also addressed. The workshop concluded with an interactive Q&A session, where Dr. Hassan engaged with students’ questions, offering insightful answers to motivate them as they embark on their academic journey with confidence and optimism.
