The Vice Chancellor Patronizes the Third Dermatology Forum in Salalah
The Dermatology Unit at Sultan Qaboos Hospital organized the third annual dermatology symposium entitled Emergency Dermatology at Al Baleed Salalah Resort (Anantara). The symposium was held under the auspices of Professor Amer bin Ali bin Abdullah Al-Rawas, Vice Chancellor, Dhofar university in the presence of SQH Director and a number of doctors and health care workers from government and private sectors. Dr. Lutfi bin Omar Al-Kathiri, head of dermatology unit at Sultan Qaboos Hospital, started the symposium with a welcoming speech in which he said: “Sultan Qaboos Hospital is hosting today the third annual dermatology symposium accredited by Oman Medical Speciality Board and organized by the dermatology unit in cooperation with the department of professional development and career guidance and under the auspices of Ego Pharmaceuticals, represented by the brand (QV).
The symposium aims to train doctors working in primary health care and provide them with basic skills related to emergency skin diseases and how to deal with them, which in turn contributes to serving patients and enhancing confidence in the medical services provided. The symposium also aims to explain the guidelines used to deal with some critical cases that require referral to specialized clinics in the reference hospital in accordance with the applicable regulations. A group of doctors from Sultan Qaboos Hospital in Salalah spoke at the symposium ,in addition to hosting the symposium for a number of specialists in dermatology from different states of the Sultanate. The symposium included several lectures and scientific discussions in the field of emergency dermatology, the most important of which are the discussion of acute bacterial and viral infections, pemphigus vulgaris, Steven Johnson syndrome, acute urticaria and angioedema in addition to discussions and exchange of experiences among participants and attendees from various health institutions and presentation of the latest medical developments related to emergency dermatology. The conference concluded by honoring the doctors participating in presenting the lectures and working papers and the organizers of the symposium.
