Peer Tutors Meeting

''Congratulations! You are the teachers of the future, '' Mr. Mohammed
Al Achamsi, one of the DUFP English Language instructors said at the
beginning of the meeting of SRC Students at Risk Committee with the
students selected as peer tutors for their relevant English classes. Then
we all tried to work out a definition to the term- Peer tutoring in Arabic
and English and what a tutor is expected to do.
Next, Ms. Rashida Khan told us with more details about peer tutors and
the importance of voluntary work among students. Ms. Rashida also
talked about how this type of work can be rewarding as well. Students
now know that certificates of participation, in recognition of peer tutors
will be issued at the end of the semester. Terms and conditions of such
certificates issuance were stated.
Finally, Mr. Faisal, the DUFP Director talked about the importance of
voluntary work and that students should have the spirit of healing one
another in academic context. He also added that communication is a
fundamental skill that university students should develop. Moreover,
he stressed that collaborative learning is an effective strategy that can
foster cooperation and enhance learning. A note of thanks for the
initiative was given by the Director to conclude the meeting.
