In  2023-24,  the  Foundation  Program  unit  of Dhofar
                                                    University, which was responsible for providing General
                                                    Foundation Program courses, underwend a significant
                                                    transformation,  with  its  new  title  as  the  Centre  for
                                                    Preparatory Studies (CPS), e ective April 15, 2024,
                                                    following the decision of the Vice-Chancellor as per
                                                    Resolution No. 32/2023-24. This upgrade marks a pivotal
                                                    moment in the institution's commitment to excellence in
                                                    preparatory education.

                                                    The CPS at Dhofar University continuously contributes
                                                    its  diligent  e orts  to  realize DU’s vision  to  see  the
                                                    institution among one of the leading HEIs in the Arab
                                                    region.

                                                    The core program, General Foundation Program, will
                                                    continue to be the cornerstone of the CPS. This one-year
                                                    bridge course is designed to equip high school graduates
                                                    with the necessary skills to pursue their chosen
                                                    university majors. The GFP emphasizes proficiency in
                                                    English, Mathematics, IT, and general study skills,
                                                    aligning with the standards set by the Oman Academic
                                                    Standards. The program's curriculum, spanning from
                                                    lower to upper intermediate levels, addresses both
                                                    curricular and extracurricular needs, facilitating a
                                                    smooth transition from secondary to tertiary education.

                                                    In addition to serving regular students, the CPS is
                                                    extending its o erings to cater to Arabic major students.
                                                    Furthermore, plans are underway to introduce
                                                    preparatory courses tailored for medical students, and a
                                                    Post-Graduate Qualifying Program for those aspiring to
                                                    pursue master programs, and IELTS preparation courses
                                                    for internal and external applicants. The CPS will broaden
                                                    its scope to encompass Professional Development &
                                                    Research activities and community service projects.
                                                    These endeavours aim to engage with various segments
                                                    of the local community, o ering preparatory courses
                                                    designed to meet specific needs and contribute
                                                    positively to societal development and to the image of
                                                    Dhofar University in the region.
