I was accepted at Dhofar University in 2017 with a paid government

scholarship. It was my first step in a life of self-reliance. In there, I went

through good days and bad days. At first, I was not happy with my major (Bachelor

of English Language Arts). I thought that this major was not suitable for me. I wanted to

study Mathematics. Unfortunately, my scholarship was not transferred to this major, so I had

to accept my fate. My first struggle was to strive in the specialization and excel in it.

I started studying the foundation program. I was fortunate to skip level one by passing a

challenge test. This accomplishment gave me a boost of energy. It prompted me to do better and greater

achievements, so I decided to become more active. I made sure I participated in the activities of the open day.

I gained three certificates by doing so. I also got second place twice in a writing competition and third place in a

speaking one. In addition, I wrote an article in our FP Chronicle. It was then that I realized that with some effort, I

could succeed. The minor achievements were not enough for me. I wanted to prove myself more.

                 I wanted to study

Mathematics. because I wouldn’t say I liked asking for money from my father. I was 18 at that time.
I started to work as a peer tutor and thus obtained a small amount of money and experience

Unfortunately, my in teaching. I liked the idea, so I decided to talk to some officials from the university and the

scholarship was not students. Despite all this work, I did not neglect my studies, and my grades were perfect.

to work with a research centre for a company. I did not have to go to the company or do work outside the
