DU SECURED FUNDING FOR

COVID-19 RESEARCH GRANT

In response to the call for proposals for COVID-19 research
program initiated by TRC to support the efforts of
government in combating Corona virus, 10 research
proposals were submitted by DU faculty members. After
evaluation, 1 proposal from DU titled “Towards a Generic
Decision Support System for Communicable Diseases
Control in Urban Environments of Oman– COVID19 as an
Example” submitted by Dr. Hedi Haddad and Dr. Zied
Bouyahya worth 7000 R.O. was approved. The project
duration is only six months.

EJAAD
EJAAD is a new platform from TRC that helps to link
academia to Industry. DU became member of EJAAD
in December 2018 and renewed its membership in
June, 2019 by paying an annual membership fee of
500 R.O. Many industry challenges were posted from
different industries that were circulated among
faculty members. DU submitted 2 proposals in
response to the industry challenges.

Heritage and Culture

Research Program

In response to the call for proposals under Omani
heritage and culture research program, proposals
from faculty members from all HEIs across Oman
were submitted to TRC. Only two proposals from all
over Oman were approved where one belonged to
DU. The proposal was submitted by Dr. Ahmed Al
