OOREDOO AND ZTE CORPORATION ESTABLISH 5G
INNOVATION CENTRE FOR DHOFAR UNIVERSITY

Dhofar University, in partnership with
Ooredoo and ZTE, is establishing a cutting- “Dhofar University
edge 5G Innovation Center (5GIC) at its launches 5G
Faculty of Engineering. Officially named the
Dhofar University – Ooredoo – ZTE 5G Innovation Center.”
Innovation Lab Project, this initiative aims to
revolutionize education and research by The 5GIC will serve as a national hub for
integrating advanced 5G and Internet of education, training, and innovation, empowering
Things (IoT) technologies, supporting students, faculty, and professionals to explore
Oman’s digital transformation. the full potential of 5G technologies. Professor
Amer Al Rawas, Vice Chancellor of Dhofar
University, highlighted its alignment with Oman
Vision 2040, stating, “This initiative equips our
graduates with the practical skills needed to
contribute to national development.”
Ooredoo CEO Bassam Yousef Al Ibrahim
praised the project’s impact on education,
emphasizing the smart campus’s ability to
enhance virtual learning through 5G’s ultra-fast
connectivity. Zhang Meng, ZTE Managing
Director, reaffirmed the collaboration’s
commitment to driving innovation and nurturing
telecommunications talent, advancing Oman’s
role in global technology.
