A Foundation in Information Technology
The IT Team Leading the Charge
It's no secret that technology has become fully integrated in our lives. At home, at work, at
school, it's crucial to have the right kind of tech knowledge to stay plugged in to the world.
With that in mind, the IT Unit of the Foundation Program provides a two-term course that
aims to build students' university-level IT fluency and competency skills. Newly joined
students will get the benefit of technical knowledge that will help them do their homework,
assignments and exams online in their regular English and Math classes.
Additionally, the IT unit has an agreement with Pearson Education to use IT MyLab and
Mastering, which delivers trusted content and resources through an expansive course
materials library. With easy-to-use Prebuilt Learning Modules, students get an authentic
learning experience, and they become sharp critical thinkers and proficient in Microsoft®
Office, essential skills employers seek.
Finally, the IT unit emphasizes the essential components of a standard IT curriculum as
specified for General Foundation Programs by Oman Academic Standards. By using a
practical approach, students investigate a variety of situations from across the spectrum of
technology. The overall courseware equips the students for International Certifications,
like IC3 on digital literacy.
