APPOINTMENT OF THE NEW
DEAN OF THE COLLEGE OF
ENGINEERING
Effective August 22, 2023, Dhofar
University is pleased to announce the
appointment of Dr. Issam Bahdoor as
Dean of the College of Engineering.
Dr. Bahdoor brings over two decades of
distinguished academic
experience to his new role. He joins
Dhofar University from Sultan Qaboos
University, where he served as Head of
the Quality Assurance and Academic
Accreditation Unit for the College of
Engineering from 2021–2023. Prior to
that, Dr. Bahdoor was the Assistant Dean
for Undergraduate Studies from 2016–
2020, playing a pivotal
modernizing academic programs and
achieving international accreditation for
college programs.

DR. ISSAM AL-BAHDOOR
A recipient of numerous academic accolades, including
the "Distinguished Teacher" award, he holds doctoral
and master’s degrees in mechanical engineering from
the University of Toronto, Canada, in 2013 and 2006,
and a bachelor’s degree from Sultan Qaboos University
in 2003.
A mechanical engineering expert, Dr. Bahdoor's
research interests span Instrumentations, Automation,
Artificial Intelligence, smart materials, linear/nonlinear
dynamics, mechanical vibrations, and mechatronics,
reflecting his commitment to advancing engineering
knowledge.
Please join us in extending a warm welcome to Dr.
Issam Bahdoor as he assumes leadership of the
College of Engineering at Dhofar University. His
wealth of experience will undoubtedly elevate the
college to new heights of excellence.
Dr. Bahdoor's own words reflect his journey: "The
